The Riding Ring Viewing Parlor is a purpose-designed equestrian spectator and observation space by Frisenda Architects, located in the Hudson Valley, New York. The project focuses on the viewing area adjacent to an active riding ring, providing a refined architectural setting for spectators, trainers, and guests to observe equestrian training and events.
Positioned along the perimeter of the riding ring, the project was conceived as a calm, composed threshold between observation and performance. Proportions and orientation were carefully calibrated to frame the arena without distraction, reinforcing the cadence and rhythm of equestrian practice.
Materiality plays a central role in shaping the experience of the viewing space. A restrained palette of durable, tactile materials balances longevity with warmth, complementing the agricultural setting while maintaining a refined architectural presence. Openings and daylight strategies support visual clarity throughout the day, while subtle enclosure provides protection from weather without severing the connection to the outdoors.
